百花繚乱の美

The crafting of netsuke is a traditional art form originating in the Edo period. Using the advanced techniques inherited from that age, modern netsuke are created using materials from modern times. “Contemporary netsuke” refers to work created by craftsmen active in or after 1945. Many craftsmen, both inside and outside Japan, are currently creating Contemporary netsuke.
